Foreword: Welcome to GraceNotes

Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. (1 Peter 2:10)

Maranatha Grace exists only because of the mercy we’ve received. It’s the gospel of Jesus Christ that birthed this community, and it’s the gospel of Jesus Christ that continues to shape us.

GraceNotes is a place for us to hear that gospel. It’s a place for us to listen to the music of grace rehearsed again and again so that we can learn more and more how to live in rhythm with it. It’s a place for us to learn some of what it means to live in response to the undeserved love we’ve received.

GraceNotes is a place for us to hear stories. It’s a place for us to hear about and celebrate what God is doing in and through the lives of the people who make up this community. If we listen closely to their testimonies, we’ll hear the echoes of God’s grace in their lives.

GraceNotes is a place for us to record God’s work. It’s a place for us to “take notes” on what we’re experiencing as a church—to reflect on how our community lives, what it’s learning, how it’s growing, and how it’s working to carry out God’s mission. Our aim is to teach, encourage, and edify the body as we take notes on these evidences of God’s grace.

In all these ways and more, our hope is that this blog will be a place where you not only hear about Maranatha Grace, but hear about the God who has made us his own—who has formed this community by calling us out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)
